1947 Mosgiel Kindergarten opened in the Scout Hall and remained there until its own building was erected in Irvine St in 1957. In 2015 their new building was opened.
Mosgiel Central’s vision is for all children, whaanau and teachers to be empowered with the tools to ASPIRE and build an environment that supports:
AKO – opportunities to build and develop reciprocal teaching and learning opportunities
SUSTAINABILITY - opportunities for learners to think and make informed choices for life long learning
PARTICIPATION – a place of learning that encourages and values children, their whanau and wider community involvement
INVESTIGATIONS – learners are supported to make discoveries
REFLECTION – our learning community have the opportunity to think about their thinking
ENVIRONMENTS – the building of environments and spaces that encourage connections
At Mosgiel Central you will see our vision in practice through our community working together to share a sense of fun, develop mutual respect and a feel for a genuine love of learning for all. Children’s aspirations, passions and cultural values are extremely important as foundations stones for discovering new strategies, skills and attitudes to think.
MOSGIEL CENTRAL KINDERGARTEN are now back at Irvine St in their new kindergarten. Many thanks to Elm Grove School for their support and use of space over 2014.
